"hear the Pistons, Pelicans, Sixers, & Magic among teams doing the most legwork so far on Tyus Jones."

I like Jones quite a bit, but it’s tough to see the Pistons drafting him.

1. He’s not rated as highly as the Pistons will pick. Jones has tremendous court vision and a nice shooting stroke, but he’s small and not a great athlete. That already limited him at Duke. Imagine the difficulties he’ll face against NBA size and athleticism. At a certain point – probably higher than most – I’d chance Jones strengths outshining his flaws, but that’s not in the top 10.

2. The Pistons already have two point guards under contract, Brandon Jennings and Spencer Dinwiddie. They’re also likely to re-sign Reggie Jackson, leaving little need for Jones.

But I’m glad to hear the Pistons are doing so much homework on Jones. Hopefully, that’s a sign they’re doing EVEN MORE studying of more viable prospects.
