Tom Gores: Andre Drummond is ‘a maximum guy’

Tom Gores on Andre Drummond, via David Mayo of MLive:

"“Andre’s a maximum guy,” Gores said. “He’s a maximum guy. He’s not only a great player, he’s a great person.”"

This is not Gores hampering the Pistons’ negotiating position. This is Gores stating what everyone knows.

But that won’t make contract negotiations seamless.

There are several key issues left to resolve – max the Pistons can offer or max another team can offer, length of contract, options, whether it will be signed as an extension or new deal, Derrick Rose Rule triggers. As long as everyone is on the same page about Drummond being in the max range, though, that’s a good starting point.
