Andre Drummond got one All-Defensive second-team vote, matching his total from last season.

Drummond made decent defensive progress this season, though he didn’t make the leap many of us hoped he would under Stan Van Gundy. While Drummond’s positioning improved, he got less aggressive going for steals and blocks. Hopefully, Drummond can put it all together.

But this honor is based on a player’s progression, and I can’t make a credible case Drummond was one of the NBA’s two best defensive centers this season. He’s not ahead of DeAndre Jordan (first team), Andrew Bogut (second team), Rudy Gobert, Nerlens Noel or Marc Gasol.

Drummond has potential to earn an All-Defensive team selection. He’s not there yet, not even close.
