David Mayo of MLive:

"It’s “maybe six primary guys” the Pistons are considering in the first round, president of basketball operations and head coach Stan Van Gundy said, and about that many more they want to study a bit more, pending draft-night contingencies including trading down."

Van Gundy previously said the Pistons were researching about 10 players more than the rest. It seems they’ve narrowed their search.

I’d fairly safely guess five of those prospects are:

  • Justise Winslow
  • Kristaps Porzingis
  • Mario Hezonja
  • Stanley Johnson
  • Myles Turner

After that, the next-most-likely (in rough order): Frank Kaminsky, Sam Dekker,Devin Booker, R.J. Hunter,Bobby Portis, Kevon Looney and Kelly Oubre. Considering Van Gundy says “maybe” six, zero to two players on that secondary list could have made the cut.
