The Pistons didn’t manage to make a big splash in free agency like many hoped, completely striking out on Danny Green who was the general consensus pick as a good fit, but they did manage to avoid doing something the previous regime did time and time again. They didn’t spend money simply for the sake of spending it. There are no albatross contracts like that of Charlie Villanueva or Ben Gordon, and the core for the foreseeable future is mostly set.

This will be Reggie Jackson, Andre Drummond, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Stanley Johnson’s team for likely the rest of the decade.

For the first time since the days of Chauncey and Ben’s reign at the Palace, there is some reason for real optimism.

This offseason gets an A.
