George Yardley was the star of the Pistons back when they were in Fort Wayne. He was an all-star every year of his career apart from his rookie season. He had a particularly impressive year in his last full season as a Piston, 1957-58, when he averaged 28 points, 11 rebounds, led the league in scoring, set league records for most free throws attempted and made, and finished third in the MVP voting behind Bill Russell and Dolph Schayes.
