The Heat signed free agent forward Gerald Green to a one-year deal with $1.4 million. Green, an underrated signing, should be able to carry some of the load when the Heat decide to rest Dwyane Wade. Wade’s battled knee injuries the past few seasons and having someone fill his shoes when he rests will go along way for the Heat who seek to return to the playoffs this season.

Barring some major injuries, the Heat have the squad on paper to get to the Eastern Conference Finals with the return of Chris Bosh and Josh McRoberts. Justise Winslow will help provide further depth to the second unit and cover behind Luol Deng who has missed time due to injury in each of the previous five seasons.

Goran Dragic returns $90 million richer and with that comes expectations of success. We’ll find out if Hassan Whiteside is a legitimate presence inside. If he can put together a second impressive season averaging a double-double, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Heat make a playoff run.

This should be another 50-win team.
