The Detroit Pistons struggled mightily at home against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday. The Nets had a roster full of guys who either won’t be or shouldn’t be in the NBA this year, and the Pistons simply didn’t show up against them, and accordingly took a 93-83 loss. The Pistons will look to bounce back against a division rival in the form of the Milwaukee Bucks, and against a familiar face in former Piston power forward Greg Monroe.

Monroe really couldn’t wait to get out of Detroit when the opportunity presented itself, opting to take a qualifying offer last year rather than long-term guarenteed money, so it should be interesting to see if his play is affected by a desire to put on a show against his former teammates. The Piston bigs have yet to impress this preseason, so this might be an opportunity for him to really feast on a somewhat underwhelming defensive front line.
The Pistons have some other concerns as well, leading up to this matchup. They haven’t gotten a good performance out of their point guards yet, and their team defense has been pretty bad. Granted, we’re talking about the first week of the preseason, but some of the things that the Pistons have done (and not done) on the floor are causes for concern even at this early juncture.
