Sometimes in this Steph Curry-dominated world, it can be easy to forget how incredible LeBron James really is.

Beginning his 12th season, under the strain of the wear-and-tear of a career where he’s made his name driving into the paint and pulverizing defenses (particularly these last few years in which he’s become less reliant upon the outside shot), he’s somewhat quietly averaging right around his career numbers in almost all major statistical categories.

A number of pundits expected the Cleveland Cavaliers to struggle in the early stages of the season, myself included. With no Kyrie Irving or Imam Shumpert, and chemistry issues that seemed unresolved from last season, it seemed the Cavs might coast a bit as they save energy for later in the season as they build up for the stretch run.

King James hasn’t allowed that malaise. The Cavs are 7-1, and they have shown themselves to be the team to beat in the Eastern Conference from day one this season.
