93. Will the Philadelphia 76ers win a game this year? Probably. Can we count on it? Not really. The 76ers have kept games closer than one might expect, but that’s more a result of opposing teams recognizing the mismatch and understanding they don’t have to dial it up for the full 48 minutes. The Sixers have played a tough schedule so far, but it doesn’t matter. They’re the cannon fodder of the NBA.. 0-10. Previous: 29th. Philadelphia 76ers. 30. team

1-9. Previous: 30th. Brooklyn Nets. 29. team. 147. The Brooklyn Nets beat the Houston Rockets in Houston this past week, and took the Golden State Warriors to overtime on the road as well before taking an L as well. This is probably the best week the Nets will have all season, so hopefully their fans enjoyed it to the max.

New Orleans Pelicans. 28. team. 69. The New Orleans Pelicans got on the board this past week, blowing out the Dallas Mavericks 120-105 at home. The injury report has shortened, but they’re still without Norris Cole, Tyreke Evans, Kendrick Perkins and Quincy Pondexter. The shortest recovery time of all these injuries belongs to Tyreke Evans, and he’s still out another six-to-eight weeks. The Pelicans are in trouble, and their playoff hopes may have already been dashed against the rocks.. 1-9. Previous: 27th

20. The Los Angeles Lakers finally have a signature win, a 97-85 home victory over the Detroit Pistons on the second game of a back-to-back. That’s where the Lakers are right now. This coming week, the Lakers will face the streaking Phoenix Suns, the Toronto Raptors and the Portland Trail Blazers, who have suddenly fallen to earth. A 1-2 week seems like the best the Lakers can hope for.. 2-8. Previous: 28th. Los Angeles Lakers. 27. team

Previous: 19th. Portland Trail Blazers. 26. team. 34. The Portland Trail Blazers seem to have finally been revealed to be just what they are. They’re now 0-for their last five games, after melting down in the fourth quarter last Sunday against the Detroit Pistons. Not to suggest that disastrous final period against the Pistons, but they haven’t looked good since then. Damian Lillard is still doing Dame things, averaging 25 points per game on 43.8% shooting from the floor and 39.1% from three-point range, and C.J. McCollum is averaging 20 points per game on similar shooting numbers, but there’s not much behind these guys.. 4-7
