Piston Powered NBA MVP Rankings: November 13th through November 20th
By Duncan Smith
Blake Griffin has been nothing less than a force of nature for the Los Angeles Clippers this season. Averaging career-highs in points per game and shooting percentage, Griffin has carried the Clippers in the absence of point guard Chris Paul, who has missed the three of the last five games.
In two of those three games, Griffin scored 35 points on 14-of-22 shooting in a close 109-105 loss to the Houston Rockets, and scored 34 in a 101-96 win over the Detroit Pistons on 14-of-25 shooting. In the other game, Griffin got himself ejected in the first half of a 118-104 loss a week ago at the Phoenix Suns.
Griffin isn’t a perfect superstar, but he is a superstar nonetheless, and the Clippers need him to be above the kinds of emotional outbursts that can take him off the floor and out of the game like they did against the Suns.
He’s taken the leap this early season to be a top-five player in the league. If he can stay healthy, nobody in the NBA can stop Blake Griffin.
