6. Joe Dumars (1985, first round, 18th overall)

Career stats: 16.1 points, 4.5 assists, 2.2 rebounds, .9 steals (14 seasons with Pistons)

Dumars is a member of our Detroit Pistons all-time first-team list, and a person who impacted the Detroit Pistons franchise not just as a player, but also as a general manager.

Dumars’ successes (and failures) are summarized best by our very own Brady Fredericksen:

"From his workman-like career as a player to his championship success early in his tenure as an executive, Dumars has helped bring Detroit three championships over his time with the organization. Detroit has made it to the NBA Finals five times, and Dumars was involved each time. Considering how Dumars’ tenure in Detroit ended, that won’t happen anytime soon. Things crumbled as fast as they rose. But there’s no doubting Dumars’ ability as a player. He was one of the few defenders Michael Jordan respected. He was an underrated offensive player, and one of the better shooters of his era. Dumars was never the superstar, but he was the perfect type of player to win with"

Newer Pistons’ fans may only remember Dumars for his pitfalls, but he played a major role in three championship Pistons teams. He was the draft pick that kept on giving far after his playing days were over.
