3. Dennis Rodman (1986, second round, 27th overall)

Career stats: 7.3 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists, .7 steals, .6 blocks (seven seasons)

Rodman may not have the gaudy stats that most great players do, but as we all know, stats don’t always tell the whole story. Rodman was a tenacious rebounder and a superb defender, which is highlighted by his back-to-back defensive player of the year awards in the 1990-1991 season and the 1991-1992 season.

What made Rodman special was his ability to guard so many positions on the floor at a high level, including perhaps the greatest player of all-time in Michael Jordan as the video above illustrates.

Sure Jordan had his moments against Rodman–as he did against pretty much everyone–but it’s not often you see someone with the ability to defend both post players and guards.

Rodman embodied the Bad Boys era of Pistons basketball and he helped the team win back-to-back titles. Not bad for a low-end second round pick.

Many remember Rodman for his tie-dye hair in Chicago, or for him wearing a wedding dress to his wedding (among other crazy things off the court). But the Pistons organization and its fans will remember him for his undying determination and relentlessness on the court.
