The Detroit Pistons are on the outside of the playoffs looking in following a three game losing streak, and the East is still tough. Is it time for a trade?

The Detroit Pistons are in a bit of a tailspin after losing three straight games and six of their past eight, and they’ve fallen to the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 27-27 record at the All-Star break. With the East being competitive everywhere between the third and ninth seeds, with just 4.5 games separating the third place Boston Celtics and the ninth place Pistons, the biggest issue will likely be for the Pistons to come back healthy after the break.

The Pistons were missing three starters on Wednesday night in a 103-92 loss to the Denver Nuggets, with Ersan Ilyasova and Reggie Jackson both out with illnesses, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been out since February 3rd with a groin injury suffered against the Boston Celtics. Everybody is expected to be back with the team and healthy when the Pistons return to action against the Washington Wizards on February 19th.

Aside from the healthy returns of three of the Pistons’ best players, this is the time of year to explore possible trades in order to improve and edge out the rest of the Eastern Conference playoff contenders. Head coach and President of Basketball Operations Stan Van Gundy has indicated that he’s not actively seeking any trades at the time being, but that can change at a moment’s notice if the right opportunity comes along.

While the Pistons aren’t favorites to make any moves coming up to the February 18th trade deadline, Dan Jenkins of CBS Detroit floated three possible trade scenarios, and we’ll break them down and explore them.
