Now that Tobias Harris has joined the Detroit Pistons, hear what he had to say about joining his new team and how he thinks he will fit.

I really wanted the Pistons to sign Tobias Harris last offseason. Before the Magic made it clear that they wanted to re-sign him, I thought he would have been the perfect addition to the Pistons’ young nucleus.

Unfortunately, the Pistons didn’t ever get that opportunity, because he was a restricted free agent and the Magic didn’t want to lose out on both Paul Millsap and their incumbent powerforward.

Fast forward to today, and Tobias Harris is a Detroit Piston for the foreseeable future on a team friendly contract.

The Pistons are thrilled with their new addition,( I’m thrilled with the Pistons’ new addition), but how does Harris feel about playing for the Motor City?

Via Detroit Free Press:

"“I was really excited about the opportunity to come here,” Harris said of learning he had been traded to the Pistons. “I feel like the team, and the direction they’re going with coach Van Gundy and the talent they have … is a perfect fit.“Most of the times when you get traded in those type of situations, sometimes the player doesn’t get as good a fit. This is a good fit for myself and the team.”"

As you may or may not know, Harris is also an excellent member in the community, and he looks forward to putting in work for the City of Detroit off the court.

Harris is a only 23 years old and has a ton of talent. He’s also a great person which doesn’t have much to do with basketball, but is a bonus nonetheless.

Harris should be ready to go for Friday’s game against the Wizards, but he’s not expected to start for the next three games. Instead, Anthony Tolliver will be replacing Ersan Ilyasova in the starting lineup.

It might take some time for Harris to mesh with the other players on the court, but this was a really solid move for the Pistons’ long-term goals, as all of their core players are now 25 years old or younger.
