The Detroit Pistons are in a tight race for an Eastern Conference playoff spot. Will the Pistons make the playoffs?

It’s crunch time for the Detroit Pistons. If they want to make the playoffs they’ll need to be more consistent that what they’ve shown so far this season.

Currently, the Pistons are just a half game out of the playoffs, but what does the future hold for them?

To get an accurate prediction, we have to take a look at some of the other playoff bubble teams in the Eastern Conference: Indiana Pacers (7th seed), Chicago Bulls (8th), and the Washington Wizards (10th).

These four teams are separated by no more than one-and-a-half games. Each team’s remaining schedule, along with their play of course, will play a big factor in who’s in and who’s out.

Our Method: We took a look at each team’s remaining schedule and put a team’s remaining games into three categories: Games the team should win, games that are 50/50, and games the team should lose.

These categories are obviously a bit subjective, but this gives us a good estimation of where each team could finish by the end of the season. We also list each team’s strength of schedule over the final games to get an idea of how difficult the path to the playoffs are going to be for each team.

Before we get into our projections for each team’s final record, lets get an idea of where each team figures to finish from an external source.

FiveThirtyEight.com has mapped out their own projections for the playoff chances for the remainder of the season.

Chances of making playoffs via FiveThirtyEight.com:

Indiana Pacers: 91%
Chicago Bulls: 37%
Washington Wizards: 26%
Detroit Pistons: 57%
