For the Detroit Pistons, two players who have spent their past two summers competing alongside one another in The Drew League include Stanley Johnson and Andre Drummond. Both players have always played exceptionally well in The Drew. The two gained widespread popularity from last year’s league when one YouTube clip showcased their dominant play against team Juglife. Now a year later, it’s Johnson who has continued to dominate.
In his first week back two weeks ago, Johnson and his team, team ICEO, competed against team Bulldogs. Even though Johnson’s team was defeated, the second-year Piston finished the game leading ICEO in scoring with 22+ points. This past Saturday, ICEO incurred another loss against team Clozers, though, this time, Johnson scored 46!
After word was first released of Johnson’s 46-point-performance, many praised the Piston small-forward and are beginning to believe Detroit has a young star in its hands. Though, this comes as nothing new to Detroit as most fans already believed Johnson would be a star.

Since first mandating an Oklahoma City Thunder rivalry to challenging LeBron James in the playoffs, Detroit has grown accustomed to Johnson’s tough spirit. This spirit is loved by many and perfectly fits a “Detroit Mentality:” a hardworking, grind-to-the-finish player who surrenders to no one.
As Detroit’s most recent slogan, “Detroit vs Everybody,” has grown widely popular, Johnson’s success in promoting such standard through his words and play last season led many to believe the young man IS a star in the making for Detroit.
Even though Johnson is only 20-years-old and needs more time to further perfect his game, his most recent performances in Orlando and The Drew League indicate his All-Star potential may soon be a realty.
