The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas is the most recent source to weigh in on NBA win totals, and they have the over/unders for the Detroit Pistons and the rest of the league.

It’s prognostication season in the NBA and the Detroit Pistons have been weighed once again. The Westgate SuperBook in Las Vegas is one of the industry-leaders in setting lines and over/unders, and they released their over/unders for the NBA on Tuesday.

While there were plenty of over/unders that were no-brainers like the Golden State Warriors at 66.5 and the Cleveland Cavaliers at 56.5, there were a few less expected totals as well. The Philadelphia 76ers have an over/under of 27.5. Ben Simmons or no, seems a bit high, right?

As for the Warriors, the Westgate opened their over/under the day after Kevin Durant signed with Golden State:

"The day after Kevin Durant signed with the Warriors, the SuperBook opened the over/under on Golden State’s season win total at 68.5. It is the highest win total oddsmaker Jeff Sherman has ever posted prior to the season and attracted early money on the under from sharp bettors.“Basically, the sharps are liking the under [on Golden State] and the public is liking the over,” Sherman said."

As always, it’s important to remember with these lines that the numbers are not necessarily set at what the oddsmaker believes they’ll come out at, but what the public believes the number will come out at. When bets come in heavy on one side of the line, the line adjusts.

As for the Pistons, the SuperBook has a line fairly consistent with what the rest of the basketball world expects. The Pistons’ over/under is set at 45.5 wins. That would place them fourth in the Eastern Conference, behind the Cavaliers, the Boston Celtics (51.5) and the Toronto Raptors (49.5).

Division odds were also released by the SuperBook. The Cavs are the second-biggest favorites in the NBA to claim their own division, coming in as 1/10 favorites. In essence, you would have to wager $10 to win $1 if you have the Cavs winning the Central. In comparison, the Warriors are 1/40 favorites. Yeah that’s right, you win $1 for every $40 you wager on them winning the Pacific Division.

Rounding out the Central, the Pistons come in at 12/1, the Indiana Pacers at 15/1, the Milwaukee Bucks at 25/1 and the Chicago Bulls at 40/1. These odds came out before Khris Middleton‘s torn hamstring and the Bucks subsequent acquisition of Michael Beasley, however, so these odds will likely be updated in the very near future and the Bucks’ odds will drop heavily.

By the way, if you’ve ever wondered just how Vegas makes money with props like this, you need look no further than New York Knicks‘ fans.

"Sherman said Tuesday that almost four times as much money had been bet on the Warriors than on any other team. Approximately 60 percent of the money bet on Westgate’s odds to win the NBA title is on Golden State. The Warriors, however, haven’t attracted the most overall bets to win the championship. At the SuperBook, more bets have been placed on the 80-1 longshot New York Knicks than any other team."
