Detroit Pistons fall to the Milwaukee Bucks 102- 89

The Milwaukee Bucks defeated the visiting Detroit Pistons 102-89 on Monday night.

It was the second night of a road back-to-back for the Detroit Pistons as they got torched by the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. Greg Monroe and Michael Beasley combined for 22 of 28 shooting together, as it seemed like no one on the Pistons had an answer for either one of them tonight. It was also a night where the Pistons did not shoot well from the three point line for most of the game finishing 7 for 21 from downtown.

It was disappointing seeing the Pistons not being able to build off their momentum on a huge win against the Raptors the night before.

Reggie Jackson finished the game with 9 points on 3 for 7 shooting. Many times throughout the game, Jackson would take a tough long jumper, early in the shot clock that just was not needed. It is a huge momentum killer when those shots do not fall. However, I do applaud him looking more for his teammates tonight with 9 assists." >

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope again as he shot 2-10 from the field, and could not seem to get anything going. On nights like these were his shot does not seem to fall, I would like to see him attack the basket more and try and get going at the charity stripe." >

A very rough game for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope again as he shot 2-10 from the field, and could not seem to get anything going. On nights like these were his shot does not seem to fall, I would like to see him attack the basket more and try and get going at the charity stripe.
Marcus Morris was one of the lone bright spots in tonight’s game. He had the tough task of matching up against Giannis Antetokounmpo and he did a great job of holding him to 6 points on 1/8 shooting, while having a fairly efficient night on offense with 26 points on 10-17 shooting." >

Tobias Harris, like many other just could not seem to get it going tonight. He shot 3/11 and it even seem he was frustrated by picking up a technical late in the game. When Harris’s shot is not falling he needs to find other ways to help the team." >

Andre Drummond had one of his dominating games where his teammates did not show up for the most part. Drummond finished with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 steals. But those stats do not show he truly played, Drummond often looked unsure of himself often making bad decisions with the ball(4 turnovers) and forcing very difficult shots that were not needed. On a night where Greg Monroe was dominating, Drummond had very little resistance to it as he kept being torched one on one by Monroe." >

If you were to just look at the box score, you would assume Andre Drummond had one of his dominating games where his teammates did not show up for the most part. Stanley Johnson did hardly anything right tonight, even getting blown past on defense a couple of times, as well as having 3 turnovers, and could not get anything going on offense as well. Johnson had been playing well recently so I will give him a break for this one outlier." >

Aron Baynes only played 5 minutes as he rightfully should. In those 5 minutes he picked up 0 points, 0 rebounds, and two fouls, while constantly getting feasted by Greg Monroe." >

ISH SMITH

Coming off one of his best performances of the season last game against the Raptors, Smith was mostly quiet this game. Credit to Malcolm Brogdan’s defense, as Smith could not get to the rim as easily as he normally does with his quickness. In 17 minutes he only had three points and one assist.

JON LEUER

PF, Detroit Pistons

Leuer was great on the offensive end tonight scoring 15 points on an efficient 6 for 9 shooting as well as pulling down 11 rebounds. It was his defense that left much to be desired. Granted, Michael Beasley did hit some very difficult shots, but it seemed time and time again Beasley just kept getting to his spot and scoring at will with Leuer defending him.
Boban Marjanovic got some playing time mostly because of Baynes inability, or anyone for that matter to contain Greg Monroe, but when Boban was matched on Monroe he did a fairly decent job. It is worth noting that Boban was the only Piston with a positive plus/minus." >

Reggie Bullock get some playing time, and show if he can make a difference in that department. But, I do like the move by Van Gundy to get Boban some minutes, as Baynes just could not get the job done tonight." >

STAN VAN GUNDY

Head Coach, Detroit Pistons

C-

This was a very predictable game for the Pistons coming off that long come from behind win against the Raptors on the road the night before, but Van Gundy has to get more out of his star players in games like these especially when Jackson only played 17 minutes the night before. Also, on nights where the team cannot hit most of their 3 point attempts, it would be nice to see Reggie Bullock get some playing time, and show if he can make a difference in that department. But, I do like the move by Van Gundy to get Boban some minutes, as Baynes just could not get the job done tonight.
