The Detroit Pistons score over 130 points in regulation for the first time since 2008 in a strong offensive performance in their blowout win against the short-handed Philadelphia 76ers.

After a slow start that saw the Philadelphia 76ers take an early 9 point lead, the Detroit Pistons were able to wrestle control of the game back towards the end of the first quarter and the result never really looked in doubt from there.

They had four players score 20 or more and six in double figures, led by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope who scored 26 points on just 11 shots.

Impressively for the Pistons, who have had significant issues at the free throw line in recent times, they made18 from 21 attempts. This was no doubt helped by the fact Andre Drummond didn’t make it to the free throw line. Drummond has made just 5 of his last 29 attempts.

The Pistons only committed 9 personal fouls which led to just 7 free throw attempts with the Sixers making 6 of them. They also forced 20 turnovers while only committing 8 themselves. Interestingly, the Sixers scored 25 points off turnovers compared to the Pistons 15.

Eight Pistons finished shooting 50% from the field or higher with only four Sixers doing the same.

The Pistons have a day off before facing the 6th placed Chicago Bulls at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

KENTAVIOUS CALDWELL-POPE. A. Caldwell-Pope led the game in scoring with 26 points on just 11 field goal attempts. In a game where several players had strong offensive performances, KCP was the best of a strong group.. SG. Detroit Pistons

B+. Drummond played 32 minutes during the first three quarters and didn’t see the floor in the fourth due to the blow out win. He finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds to go along with 2 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocks having a strong impact on both ends of the court. He did have 3 defensive goal tending calls go against him with only one being clear cut. Although the baskets went the Sixers way it was a good sign Drummond was remaining active defensively throughout the game.. C. Detroit Pistons. ANDRE DRUMMOND

STAN VAN GUNDY. B+. Despite all the talk leading into this game about a potential change to the starting lineup, Van Gundy stayed with his regular starters. It worked as Reggie Jackson found some offensive form while Ish Smith was able to distribute well off the bench. Regardless who starts between the two, I would like to see them split the minutes on the court more evenly which happened in this game. I liked the use of timeouts in this game from Van Gundy. He was able to call a quick timeout early in the first quarter after a sluggish start and did the same again anytime the Sixers looked like gaining momentum. In blow out wins, I would prefer to see some more Boban Marjanovic. Everybody needs more Boban!. Head Coach. Detroit Pistons
