The Detroit Pistons unleashed their young bloods on the Houston Rockets last night. The result? A shocking win and some big performances by the young guys.

Even fans wishing for the Detroit Pistons to lose out (yes, that includes me) have to be pleased with what they saw last night, mostly because the team was able to pull out a win against one of the best team’s in the NBA thanks to their young guys.

Stanley Johnson scored 13 points, adding four rebounds and four assists, including three of five from three, one of which sealed the Pistons’ victory.

The overall performance from the Pistons’ young guys (Marjanovic included who is a 28-year-old with minimal NBA playing time) was encouraging, not only because they performed so well, but because they played with energy and genuinely looked to be having fun–something we haven’t seen from this team all season.

Hopefully we continue to see this sort of energy and production from the Pistons’ youth over these last few games.

Boban Marjanovic lead the team with 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Perhaps the most surprising performance, however, was that of rookie Henry Ellenson who essentially played his first NBA game last night, chipping in 15 points and 11 rebounds.

So my question of the day for you fans is this: What did you think of Ellenson last night?

I’m impressed and can’t wait to see more of him–not only that, but I love the energy he plays with. I hope he builds off of this performance.

With all the offensive skills you could ask for on display last night, this juust further confirms my suspicion that he can have bright future if he continues to fine-tune his skills and add weight.
