Darrun Hilliard to serve as backup point guard for Detroit Pistons
The Detroit Pistons will be without Beno Udrih for the rest of the season. With Reggie Jackson shut down for the season, the Pistons turn to Darrun Hilliard as their backup point guard.
The Detroit Pistons had an interesting case on their hands.
First, they shut down Reggie Jackson.
Next, they lost Beno Udrih to an injury that will sideline him for 6-8 weeks.
Then, they tried to sign Lorenzo Brown (a PistonPowered summer league favorite), only to miss the deadline to release Udrih to create a vacant roster spot.
With the Pistons having to rely on internal players to replace Udrih, the Pistons have elected to go with a bit of a wild card, Darrun Hilliard.

Darrun Hilliard isn’t an overall skilled ball handler. He’s also not known for his passing ability.
This will be interesting to say the least.
That said, with the Pistons no longer in playoff contention, I really like this idea.
The worst that can happen is Hilliard fails miserably.
The best that can happen is Hillaird shows a level of competence and increases his value to the team.
