As expected, the Detroit Pistons have stayed put in the NBA Draft Lottery, meaning they will have the 12th pick in this year’s draft.

The Detroit Pistons, who entered tonight with a 2.54 percent chance of landing a top three pick in this year’s NBA Draft, were expected to stay put tonight. Detroit came into the night with 93.5 percent odds of staying 12th in this season’s lottery, according to Piston Powered’s Duncan Smith:

The Boston Celtics, who owned the rights to the Brooklyn Nets’ 2017 first-round pick, will select first overall this June. The Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings round out the top five.

Detroit last held the 12th overall pick in 1981, when they selected small forward Kelly Tripucka. The University of Notre Dame product made two all-star games in his five years with the organization.

At the time of this writing, the Pistons are expected to draft either shooting guard Donovan Mitchell, Gonzaga’s Zach Collins, point guard Dennis Smith Jr. and Duke Blue Devil Luke Kennard, according to various mock drafts.

Detroit News‘s Rod Beard reported the team also had meetings with Creighton’s Justin Patton and Michigan’s D.J. Wilson and Moritz Wagner among others at the NBA Scouting Combine.

This year’s NBA Draft will be held on June 22.
