Should the Detroit Pistons acquire a late first round pick?

The Detroit Pistons have been rumored to be shopping the 12th overall pick. The are other rumblings that suggest they could be looking to move up in the draft, but what about adding another first round pick in the late round? Should the Pistons look into a draft-and-stash type of player?

The Detroit Pistons are a hard team to pin down. I think they might be looking to move up, they have the assets and there is a logical case to be made for doing so. On the other hand they could also trade out of the draft entirely–there’s less logic behind this move, but still, a case could be made.

But how about the case for acquiring a late first round draft pick to draft-and-stash? Would that be a move you would get behind?

For me, I absolutely love the idea at the back end of the first, assuming the right player is there. This year, that player would be Isaiah Hartenstein, the 7’1″, 250 lb power forward who can drive, dish, shoot, and run the floor.

The Pistons have Henry Ellenson, Jon Leuer, Tobias Harris, and Marcus Morris, all of whom play the power forward spot at times.

But can we honestly say any of them are untouchable? (I mean, PistonPowered legend Ellenson should be close to untouchable, because he is young and cheap with upside, but a lot of these guys could be gone sooner than anyone thought this time last year).

For me personally, I love the idea of drafting a guy late that can be stashed for a greater return in the future, particularly given the turbulence of this team.

What say you? P.S. enjoy some Hartenstein while you are here.
