Kennard shot 43.8% from the three-point line in his second year at Duke where he averaged 19.5 points per game.
While Kennard has been deemed “the best shooter in the draft” by many pundits, Kennard is much more than that.
Despite only averaging 2.5 assists per game at Duke this past season, Kennard is an excellent play-maker and excels at creating is own shot–another area the Pistons’ struggled at last season.
Ultimately, the Pistons elected to go production versus upside, with a player like Donovan Mitchell on the board who possesses a 6’10” wingspan and a 40 inch plus vertical leap.
My instant take is that this was a good pick. I don’t expect Kennard to be more than a rotational player. At best, he could be a starter down the road.
