The guys in the Big 3 league have been doing some reminiscing on the official podcast, and former Detroit Pistons’ star Richard Hamilton was remembered fondly.

Few things wear you out faster than being forced to run through and around screens by a fast, athletic and energetic scorer who is an off-ball genius. Opponents and teammates alike can tell you that about former Detroit Pistons’ star Richard Hamilton.

Richard (Rip) Hamilton was remembered fondly for just that this week on the official podcast of The Big 3 league, the new 3-on-3 traveling circuit featuring a number of former Pistons, and started by Ice Cube. The hosts of the podcast–Josh Eberley and Oliver Maroney–spoke to Maurice Evans, a former Piston teammate of Rip’s, and Bonzi Wells, a long-time opponent.

The juxtaposition of how the two players felt about being on the floor with Rip was stark. While Evans appreciated Rip’s ability to work off the ball to get his shot and his effortless scoring ability, Wells dreaded the maze of hell he could put you through as he weaved through Piston screens.

After all these years, some of which were dark times in Pistons’ lore, it’s good to see Rip Hamilton getting the credit due him for his hard work once again. Needless to say, there is no Going To Work championship without Rip.
