Detroit Pistons 2016-17: By the numbers

The Detroit Pistons struggled to get wins in 2016-17. The numbers however show a slightly different story than most fans would see when they tuned in.
The Detroit Pistons’ most recent season was one to forget for fans of the organization. With that being said, the numbers show that it wasn’t all bad for Detroit outside of wins and losses.

Andre Drummond took a step back in multiple areas on the court and it has made many fans including myself question if he is the franchise player the Pistons should be building around.
There are however multiple categories in which Drummond improved, and with a healthy Reggie Jackson next season we can hope Drummond will get back to his previous all-star status.
The Pistons were also a solid defensive team last season, and the statistics back it up. They ranked first in the NBA in multiple defensive categories and have now added Avery Bradley, who is considered by many to be the best guard defender in the league.

Even if the numbers show a slightly different story, the Pistons still regressed to a lottery team. With next season being make-or-break for multiple key factors to this team, let’s all hope the numbers tell a much different story next offseason.
