Pistons sign Luis Montero to a two-way contract

The NBA offseason is starting to die down with most free agents already signed with their new teams. The Detroit Pistons are done making roster moves it seems and now have to fill their two 2-way contracts which are a new addition to the NBA CBA this year.
Two-way contracts are a new feature in the NBA’s CBA (collective bargaining agreement) that allow a player to essentially be the 16th and 17th players on the roster. These two-way contracts allow the players to play in the G-League (formerly the NBA Development League, or D-League) and the NBA.
Presumably, these contracts will be used on developmental players with the potential to be NBA caliber players in the future. Here are some more two-way contract details.
The Detroit Pistons have used their first two-way contract to sign Luis Montero. Montero went undrafted in 2015 and later signed with the Portland Trail Blazers for the season. He was then let go and played in the G-League last year with the Santa Cruz Warriors and Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Montero is 24 years old from Westchester Community College in New York. He is a 6’7” wing who weighs190 pounds. He last played with the Oklahoma City Thunder’s Summer League team this month and above are some of his highlights.
