Trading Reggie Jackson

Nearing the end of the day, Duncan limps into my office with a couple of intriguing proposals about a couple premier point guards in the Eastern Conference.

The first trade featuring the Cavaliers receiving Reggie Jackson, Stanley Johnson, 2018 1st round pick, and 2020 first round pick for Kyrie Irving seems like a fair trade on paper, but trading for Kyrie Irving is a 2 year rental. Giving up 3 future assets for a guy who will likely walk out of the door at the end of the 2019 season seems irresponsible and doesn’t make much sense. I easily decline that trade, but I do counter back with the same offer but without the addition of the 2020 first round pick.

The second trade featuring the Hornets receiving Reggie Jackson and a 2018 1st round pick for Kemba Walker would be akin to me walking into a Charlotte bank and stealing the most expensive and valuable jewel from the safe and leaving a few pennies and a scratch-off in return.

Walker is one of the best point guards in the Eastern Conference, and when paired with Andre Drummond, could be one of the most formidable pick-and-roll duos in the NBA. I am surprised that this offer crossed my desk because if I were to offer this deal to the Hornets, they would still be laughing. I accept without hesitation.
