Andre Drummond ranks as ninth best center according to 2K
Over the course of the last few days, 2K slowly released the top ten player ratings by position. Andre Drummond of the Detroit Pistons found himself ninth among his fellow centers, at 85 overall.
Andre Drummond has faced scrutiny for his performance last season, but still sits as one of the leagues best rebounders and centers. The Detroit Pistons’ big man averaged 13.6 points and 13.8 rebounds per game last season.
His play was clearly enough to garner an 85 rating, but should he be among the top ten centers? It makes sense for him to be at ninth once you consider the crop of centers behind him.
Disappointed as some may be, Drummond is still a dominant force in the league. He has been named to one All-Star team during his career already and he is 24 years old. Only way for Drummond to go is up.

The center above him, at eight, is Joel Embiid. When healthy, Embiid is a dominant center in this league. An argument can be made for Drummond to be above Embiid based on health, but not enough to bring it into fruition. Especially if Embiid stays healthy this year.
DeAndre Jordan and Hassan Whiteside are the next two above Drummond. They both rank in at a respectable 87 overall. Drummond and Jordan’s game are quite the same. Jordan only gets the edge based on his superior defense and rim protection.
What should be expected from Drummond this coming season? He needs to boost his scoring to at least 15 points a game. Drummond’s rebound production can stay the same, Detroit just needs more scoring out of the big man.
Posting up is not Drummond’s go-to, but it will need to be if he wants a place in this league. If Drummond cannot start producing 20 points a night, it is unlikely that he will ever turn into the superstar that the Pistons organization are desperately hoping for.
