Who is the Detroit Pistons most valuable asset? One NBA executive recently weighed in, and he picked Stanley Johnson. Did he get it right?

The Detroit Pistons have some good pieces. How good those pieces are up to debate, but if the Pistons were going to sell the farm, there would be significant interest around the league.

The question is, who would draw the most interest on the Pistons’ roster?

That was a questions Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press attempted to answer by asking one anonymous NBA executive.

The executive’s response? Stanley Johnson, due to his age and contract.

That’s a fair response. Johnson is definitely one of the Pistons’ most valuable assets, but is he THE most valuable asset?

Of the players on the Pistons’ roster, here is who I think would draw the most attention on the trade market, in order:

1. Stanley Johnson
2. Tobias Harris
3. Luke Kennard
4. Avery Bradley
5. Andre Drummond
6. Ish Smith
7. Langston Galloway
8. Reggie Bullock
9. Henry Ellenson
10. Boban Marjanovic
11. Anthony Tolliver
12. Jon Leuer
13. Eric Moreland

I thought about this for awhile.

Andre Drummond would definitely get the most attention if the Pistons were to sell the farm. But ultimately, I don’t consider him the most valuable on the market, because I don’t think teams would offer up fair value to net him.

If teams are not wanting to offer the Pistons fair value for Andre Drummond, then the Pistons would not be willing to sell him, in most instances. Therefore, how can he be the most valuable?

On the other hand, I think teams would make a significant offer for Stanley Johnson, Tobias Harris, and Luke Kennard.
