The Detroit Pistons have likely finalized their training camp roster, making several signings official and adding Beno Udrih to the mix.

The Detroit Pistons have most likely finalized their training camp roster, making official the signings of Derek Willis and Landry Nnoko to contracts. They also made a surprise last-minute signing of Beno Udrih to the camp roster.

Udrih has been working out with the Pistons at the practice facility in Auburn Hills this summer and has been unofficially preparing himself for a coaching career once his playing days are over. While Udrih is unlikely to be competing for an actual spot on the roster (the Pistons are planning on carrying just 14 active players), his veteran leadership will be welcome as the young team prepared for the season.

With the additions of Udrih, Willis and Nnoko, the Pistons now have 19 players on the roster. They’ll need to get that down to 16 (14 active plus two 2-way contracts) by the end of the preseason. This trio look to be the odd men out, but they’re also potentially playing for end-of-bench spots elsewhere in the NBA or perhaps a look in the G League.

Last season Udrih played 39 games for the Pistons, while Willis is a 6’9″ rookie forward who was undrafted out of Kentucky after a four-year collegiate career. Nnoko played overseas last season with VL Peasaro of the Italian League where he averaged 6.4 points and 7.1 rebounds in 30 games, 24 of which were starts.
