After receiving a limited opportunity as a rookie, Henry Ellenson appears poised to take the next step for the Detroit Pistons. With the regular season on the horizon, Ellenson may soon have his moment in the sun.

Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that Van Gundy has a headache. He must find a way to divvy up 48 minutes among four very different forwards. Tobias Harris, Jon Leuer, Anthony Tolliver and Henry Ellenson each possess their own unique skill set.
We know what to expect from Harris, Leuer and Tolliver, after having seen them extensively in past seasons with the Detroit Pistons. But Ellenson is the outlier in an otherwise veteran group of power forwards. The 20-year-old played in only 19 games as a rookie last season, with an average floor time of 7.7 minutes.
Now all that’s about to change. He’s gotten plenty of playing time, relative to what he saw last year, seeing almost 18 minutes per game so far in the preseason.
Here are five goals for Ellenson as he enters the 2017-18 season.
