Five goals for Henry Ellenson in the 2017-18 season
5. Make the Rising Stars Challenge
As I’ve mentioned in previous pieces, some goals are universal. For every rookie or second-year player, this has to be one of them.
No Detroit Pistons player has made the Rising Stars Challenge since Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in 2015.
Henry Ellenson has a legitimate chance this season, as long as gets the opportunity. His per 36 numbers as a rookie could be an indication of what to expect. Again, these are only projections. But his averages consisted of 14.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per 36 minutes on the court.
Those are more than encouraging for a player who appears to be doing all of the right things. There’s no need to rush Ellenson’s development and Stan Van Gundy knows that.
Next: If Ellenson is legit, what happens to the other fours?
But the sooner he materializes, the better the Detroit Pistons become.
