DETROIT, MI - OCTOBER 6: Henry Ellenson

Stan Van Gundy has a lot to like about what he’s seen from the team this offseason. From Stanley Johnson’s development, Reggie Jackson’s returning health, and adding a defensive-minded star in Avery Bradley. But the player who has perhaps been the most impressive is second year forward Henry Ellenson, who has been the most consistent player all camp, according to Van Gundy.

Detroit Pistons fans, you have been patiently waiting for the regular season to start, and your wait is almost over!

Until we get there, there is a lot to keep track of, like rotations, position battles, and standout performers.

Speaking of standout performers, Stan Van Gundy recently recognized his second year forward Henry Ellenson for his play throughout camp this offseason.

Via detroitpistons.com:

"“We’ve had a lot of guys play well throughout camp,” Van Gundy said to a question of Henry Ellenson’s 16-point performance in 17 minutes of Friday’s win over Atlanta. “But he’s probably been the most consistent of anybody. Every time we play, every time we practice, he really hasn’t had – I don’t remember a bad day since the start of camp. I think his confidence is sky high. He’s really focused on what he has to do. He’s playing very, very well.”"

For those of you who don’t know, I am one of the biggest Ellenson truthers there are. I thought he was a steal when he was drafted, and I think he’s going to develop into a very good professional too, with his unique skill-set. (Not to mention he’s a hard worker, and a smart player).

Needless to say, Ellenson’s offseason excites me, and it should you too for what it could mean for the Pistons this season.

Ellenson is still in the midst of a battle for minutes against Jon Leuer and Anthony Tolliver, in what has proven to be this team’s fiercest competition for playing time behind Tobias Harris.

It remains to be seen if Ellenson will get into Van Gundy’s rotation this season, but so far this offseason has been very encouraging.
