With the start of the season around the corner let’s take a trip down memory lane and look at some of the best season openers in Detroit Pistons history.
However, one thing you’ll find if you go back through than annals of time is that most of the Detroit Pistons’ season-opening games have been dull affairs.
Whether they’re getting blown out, blowing the opposition out or just a torrid affair in general regardless of the result, historically the Pistons haven’t exactly had a lot of memorable moments to kick-off a season.

You’d think a team who has experienced so much success relative to the rest of the NBA would have some memorable moments from opening night, but it’s quite the contrary.
Despite many of the games being nothing to write home about, I have managed to do enough digging through history to find the five most noteworthy opening games in franchise history.
These games aren’t necessarily barn-burner competitive contests or even games that ended in a win for the Detroit Pistons.
Some of the games on this list will be noteworthy purely for featuring impressive individual performances and career highlights.
As I mentioned earlier, many of the Pistons’ opening games have been remarkably unremarkable, so I really had to dig deep to find games worthy of earning a spot on this list.
So with the start of the 2017-18 NBA season just in sight and the arduous offseason in the dust, let’s take a trip down memory lane and remember some most likely forgotten moments in Detroit Pistons history.
