2000-01 @ Toronto Raptors

In the late 90s and early 2000s, the Pistons had a little run of actually entertaining and interesting season-opening games.

A lot of this can be put down to having both Grant Hill and Jerry Stackhouse, two of the most electrifying players in Pistons history.

Stackhouse, in particular, seems to be forgotten when it comes to Detroit folklore.

However, he had a few great seasons in a Detroit uniform that really deserve to be remembered.

Against the Toronto Raptors in the opening game of the 2000-01 NBA season, Stackhouse showed everybody just how good he could be.

He dropped a cool 44 points, the fourth most points he ever scored in a game, and dragged the Pistons to a 104-95 victory.

Stackhouse was basically a lone wolf here, with Chucky Atkins (21 points, 7 assists) the only other notable contributor.

No other player on the team registered more than 9 points.

Stackhouse and Atkins took a combined 60 shots that night.

The Pistons only took 93 total for the entire game.

For the Raptors, Vince Carter put on a strong display with 26 points and 4 steals, but had no real assistance and ended up fouling out of the game.
