3. Utilize the basket cut

When Bullock was on the floor last season, he cut to the basket just 12.1 percent of the time. That’s far too low for somebody with his court awareness. Bullock has already shown how to exploit poor interior defenders. Now he must do so on a consistent basis.

A few examples can be found in the following clips. Watch how Bullock creates just enough separation by rubbing off the screen. This gives him enough time to receive the entry pass and finish at the rim.

In the limited action Bullock has been given, his off the ball movement was very effective. But it’s not always present. He has a tendency to play smaller than his 6’7″ frame, particularly when he settles for jump shots.

A player of his stature is difficult to defend on a backdoor cut. Bullock’s length should help him draw contact in the paint, and occasionally, it has. But the less he rolls to the basket, the less pressure he puts on the opposing defense.
