5. Play at least 50 games

Reggie Bullock has never played more than 43 games in a season. Barring an injury, that can change this year.

The departure of Marcus Morris means that the Detroit Pistons are down a “true” small forward. Stanley Johnson and Bullock fit that mold, as well as Tobias Harris. But until opening night, no one is really sure where Harris will play this season.

There is also no guarantee that Johnson fills the void left by Morris. As I mentioned earlier, Bullock’s opportunity will be a direct result of Johnson’s play – good or bad.

Although Reggie has been on the outside looking in, Van Gundy has held onto him. Which signals that he might have a place on this team. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t be here.

Bullock has played the waiting game for much of his career, and will have to do so again to start the season. He’ll miss the first five games of the 2017-18 campaign for violating the league’s anti-drug policy.

Oddly enough, he’ll be eligible to play against the Clippers on Oct. 28, the team that drafted him.

Keep your eye out for Bullock when the Detroit Pistons play. Van Gundy has, and he likes what he sees.
