Detroit Pistons find themselves in elite company

The Detroit Pistons are one of the best teams in the NBA through the first month of the season. Don’t believe me? Numbers can be telling, and according the numbers, the Pistons are an elite team in the NBA.

The Detroit Pistons are off to a shockingly hot start. But is this sustainable. Are the Pistons really this good, or is it just a mirage.

Well, according to the numbers, the Pistons are one of the best teams in the NBA, and as we all know numbers NEVER lie.

Seriously though, this is pretty elite company, sample size aside.

The Pistons have been one of the best teams in the league. Its record says so, as do the numbers, and I’d say the eye balls do too.

That checks all the boxes, which means the Pistons should be able to sustain its play as we progress through the 2017-18 season.

Now, can the Pistons contend this year? Can they beat the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors in a playoff series? Can the Pistons beat the Boston Celtics playoff series?

Those are the questions that I think most of us would answer with a resounding “no”.

But who knows? While the Pistons lack a true superstar, perhaps this is the next version of the 2004 “Going to Work” Pistons title team, which also lacked a true superstar.

There’s one thing for sure. This Pistons team has talent. It has has depth. It also has a good coach.

I think all of those things add up to at least one playoff series win in 2017-18.
