Detroit Pistons’ Harris named player of the week
Detroit Pistons power forward Tobias Harris has started the season on a rampage, playing arguably better than any other player on the team. In fact, he’s played arguably better than any other player in the league over the last week. At least, that’s what the NBA thinks, as Harris earns the NBA’s player of the week award.
The Detroit Pistons are 10-3, tied for first place in the Eastern Conference. That’s good.
Equally as good, if not better, has been Tobias Harris, who has earned the NBA’s player of the week award.
Harris was humbled by the honor of being selected as the Eastern Conference player of the week.
"“I’m honored,” Harris said of the award, “but this is truly a testament to how well we’ve been playing as a team.”"
Last week, Harris averaged 21.3 points per game shooting 49 and 64 percent from the field and three point range. The Pistons were also undefeated in its three games played last week.
Harris has played at an all-star level this season. His ability to create his own offense and hit open shots with regularity has been huge for the Pistons this season.
At this pace, Harris has to be considered an all-star through 13 games. He also has to be considered one of the most improved players this season.
If the Pistons continue to win, he will surely continue to gain more and more recognition as the season goes on.
I’ve been extremely impressed with Harris’ play this season, though I wouldn’t say it was unexpected.
I thought Harris could develop into an all-star caliber player when the Pistons traded for him two seasons ago, and I think many felt the same way.
Each season that passes makes the Pistons trade with the Orlando Magic that much more of a steal.
