DETROIT, MI - NOVEMBER 8: Tobias Harris

Following a 25 point and 7 rebound game against the Miami Heat, Tobias Harris officially wins Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

The Detroit Pistons, winners of eight of their last ten and currently on a five game winning streak, have relied upon Tobias Harris for a scoring punch.

Harris’ strong play was rewarded on Monday with the NBA’s most prestigious weekly award, NBA Player of the Week.

Harris so far has averaged 20.1 points per game this season on 48.1 percent shooting and 50.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Last season, Tobias Harris was moved to the bench to provide a spark of offense to the bench unit. The starting lineup suffered as a result. Tobias Harris needed more minutes.

This season, Tobias Harris has been more of a focal point on offense. His usage rate has increased since last season, and he’s averaging nearly 30 points per 100 possessions – the highest of his career.

Tobias Harris has also been deadly from three this season. His 50.6 percent from three ranks third in the NBA.

When asked about winning the award from the Detroit News, Tobias Harris shrugged off most of the adoration.

"“I’m honored,” Harris said of the award, “but this is truly a testament to how well we’ve been playing as a team.”"

Harris joins the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, James Harden, Nikola Jokic, and Demarcus Cousins as Player of the Week award recipients this season.

If Tobias Harris continues his strong play and the Pistons keep winning, there will be a lot greater accolades in store for the young forward.

Tobias Harris and the Detroit Pistons go on the road to play the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.
