Missing the entire month of November, Detroit Pistons Forward, Jon Leuer, is still not cleared to return to action. The Pistons take on the conference leader, Boston Celtics, tonight.
In the month of November, the Detroit Pistons have been nothing short of spectacular. With a 12-6 record and a 7-3 record in the month of November, the Pistons currently find themselves sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference.
However, they have been winning in spite of not having a key member of their rotation.
After going down with a sprained ankle Jon Leuer was expected to miss a couple weeks but per Rod Beard of the Detroit News, Jon Leuer still hasn’t been cleared to play. Beard even went on to clarify that Leuer may have even experienced a mild setback during the recovery process.
Jon Leuer hasn’t played a game since Halloween, but that hasn’t derailed the Pistons’ success. Anthony Tolliver, Eric Moreland, and other members of the Pistons’ bench mob have stepped up to fill the void that Leuer’s injury has created.
During the few games he has managed to play this season, Jon Leuer is averaging 5.4 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, and has a defensive rating of 96.9.
Although Leuer hasn’t made a three pointer since April 9th, 2017, Jon Leuer provides some much needed spacing and shooting at the Center position when he is playing alongside Ish Smith and the rest of the bench unit.
Leuer also serves as an adequate rebounder and an average defender when on the court. Having him back in the rotation, even at a limited role, would be a positive for a Pistons squad that is looking to make a statement tonight against the conference leading, Boston Celtics.
The Detroit Pistons take on the Boston Celtics in TD Garden tonight at 7:30 PM ET/6:30 PM CT. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Detroit.
