The Detroit Pistons are on a five game losing streak, albeit against stellar competition. Still, the Pistons haven’t had a win in five games and that streak could go longer with the Boston Celtics coming to town tonight. How concerned should we be about the Detroit Pistons?

That stellar start for the Detroit Pistons sure was nice wasn’t it?

The Pistons were second in the Eastern Conference standings, and then the team went on a five game losing streak.

Here’s the teams the Pistons have lost two during this streak:

At Washington Wizards (14-12): 91-109
At Philadelphia 76ers (13-12): 103-108
At San Antonio Spurs (19-8):93-96
At Milwaukee Bucks (15-10): 100-104
Golden State Warriors (21-6): 98-102

To recap the Pistons lost by no more than two possessions in four out of the five games. They also haven’t lost to a losing team. Moreover, these teams combined to go 82-48, which is a winning percentage 64%.

Am I worried about the Pistons?

No, I am not.

The way these Pistons have lost during this steak can truly be classified as “tough luck losses” in all but one of the games.

If the ball bounced a different way, the Pistons probably could have went 4-1 during this stretch of games.

I think the Pistons, during this streak, have looked just as good as it did prior to the losing streak.

If anything, the team’s play has only reaffirmed how good it is, even if it hasn’t culminated into wins of late.

The biggest obstacle for the Pistons will be keeping confidence, though I think the team is mature enough and has a good enough coach in Stan Van Gundy for that not to be much of an issue.

That’s my take, what’s yours?
