The Detroit Pistons believe Avery Bradley is one of the best players in the NBA. He’s been great defensively, and has undoubtedly improved the team. But, is Avery Bradley an all-star?

The Detroit Pistons elected to let Kentavious Caldwell-Pope walk in free agency. This was a move that many of us anticipated when Stan Van Gundy traded Marcus Morris to the Boston Celtics to acquire Avery Bradley.

It was a move that had the fan base torn.

On the one hand, Caldwell-Pope showed so much promise, and he was the team’s best perimeter defender. On the other hand, he was inconsistent on offense and Avery Bradley was a better defender and played at a higher level on a better team.

Then there’s the age difference, Caldwell-Pope at 24 and Bradley at 27, and one could certainly make the argument that the Pistons were rolling the dice–particularly since Bradley is only under contract one season and Caldwell-Pope was a restricted free agent.

Fast forward a few months and Avery Bradley has proven to be sensational for the Pistons.

In fact, Van Gundy thinks he’s an all-star.

My take?

Bradley is definitely a top-three shooting guard in the Eastern Conference. Of course, that matters little because he will also be going up against the point guards for the all-star game.

With John Wall (who admittedly is injured), Kyrie Irving, Ben Simmons (point-forward), Kyle Lowry in the mix, along with the shooting guards such as Bradley Beal, DeMar DeRozan, it will be tough to see a spot for Avery Bradley, though I think he is deserving and has a shot at making the reserves thanks to the coaches.

It’s a slim chance, but it’s a chance nonetheless.
