The Detroit Pistons are leaving no stone unturned when it comes to churning the roster. Right off the heals of adding former University of Oakland star Kay Felder to the team of a two-way contract, the Pistons have reportedly signed another guard to a two-way contract in Reggie Hearn.

The Detroit Pistons have been busy this week.

Amidst reports that the team is heavily involved in the trade market, the team has also been churning the roster, particularly at the guard spot, adding Kay Felder just yesterday, and adding Reggie Hearn too.

Via Detroit News:

"The team will sign shooting guard Reggie Hearn to a two-way contract, joining point guard Kay Felder as their pair of two-way signees, a source confirmed to The Detroit News on Sunday. Luis Montero, who had been on a two-way deal, will be released.Marc Stein of The New York Times first reported the interest in Hearn, who played for the Reno Big Horns in the development league. The News reported Saturday that Felder would be signed Sunday, though Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy would not confirm the report before Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bulls. Both Felder and Hearn will be on prorated deals that will give them about half of the 45 days that two-way signees are allowed with their NBA teams. The deadline to sign two-way players is today, so the Pistons had incentive to lock down their roster."

There is also an ancillary move to the signings as noted by Rod Beard below:

Hearn, 26, was averaging 14.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists, on 42.7/38.2/78.8 shooting splits with the Reno Bighorns in the G-League.

I’ve included some highlights from Hearn in 2015-16 season if you want to familiarize yourself with him.

Obviously this is not the exciting move some Pistons fans have been waiting for with the trade rumors swirling over the past week.

Quite frankly, I wonder whether we will see either of Felder or Hearn at some point this season, or even ever, with the Pistons.

That said, I am glad the Pistons are spending time on players like this and trying to find hidden gems that can contribute. It is these types of moves that have already paid dividends with the team. Look no further than Dwight Buycks, who has been awesome for the Pistons and was found in similar fashion.

I do expect to see more moves in the ensuing weeks with how active the Pistons seem to be in the trade market–moves that should have an impact on rotations.

It will be an interesting couple of weeks as the trade deadline draws closer.
