The Detroit Pistons have been particularly bad over the last few weeks, losers of eight straight games. As such, the team is looking to shake things up, making starting shooting guard Avery Bradley available.

The Detroit Pistons has made its starting shooting guard, Avery Bradley available, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

Via ESPN:

"The Detroit Pistons have made starting shooting guard Avery Bradley available in trade talks, league sources told ESPN.So far, Detroit’s asking price for Bradley is significant, league sources said. Bradley is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and could command an annual salary in the $20 million range."

Wojnarowski sites the team’s fear of being able to retain Bradley in free agency as the biggest factor in the decision to make Bradley available.

While that may ultimately be true, I think the Pistons recent slide in the standings, paired with the emergence of rookie Luke Kennard has played as much of a factor for Detroit.

Though we know Stan Van Gundy wants to win now, perhaps we are finally seeing a shift in his thinking, that is, a shift towards playing for tomorrow instead of trying to win now–something we’ve been asking for.

Per Wojnarowski, the Pistons asking price is said to be high–as it should be.

Bradley might not be a great fit for Detroit, but he could be an excellent piece for a title contender, such as the Cleveland Cavaliers, for example.

Zach Lowe thinks so too.

Bradley would be an ideal piece for the Cavaliers. Not only does Bradley’s three-and-D style fit more with the Cavaliers, but his ability to guard Steph Curry would undoubtedly be a huge addition for the Cavaliers.

Moreover, Bradley’s familiarity with playing alongside Isaiah Thomas would make for an easy transition, and might even give the Cavaliers an inside edge playing against the other contender in the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics.

For the Pistons, these factors could lead to the Pistons landing something that the team otherwise would have no chance at, short of giving up one of its core pieces.

That’s right, the Pistons have a real shot at the Brooklyn Nets top pick.

Next: What’s your confidence level in Stan Van Gundy?

We’ll have to wait and see how this shakes out, but the Cavaliers are an obvious landing spot for Bradley.

Moreover, the Nets’ first round pick might be considered a necessary price tag for the Cavaliers, if it gives the team a better chance to win another title, perhaps the team’s last chance, with LeBron James uncertain future.
