Ex-Detroit Pistons guard Darrun Hilliard has been voted to the Midseason All-NBA G League Team. The Pistons traded Hilliard to the Houston Rockets over the summer.

On Friday, the NBA G-League announced its Midseason All-NBA G League team for the Eastern and Western Conference.

Former Detroit Pistons guard, Darrun Hilliard, earned a spot on the Western Conference All-NBA G League team representing the Austin Spurs.

The 24-year old Hilliard was traded by the Pistons to the Rockets for cash considerations over the summer in an effort to help the Rockets facilitate a deal to bring former Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul to Houston.

The Rockets subsequently cut Hilliard, freeing up nearly $1.5 million in cap space for Paul.

In Septemper, Darrun Hilliard was picked up by the San Antonio Spurs on one of their two-way contracts.

Hilliard has been absolutely electric in the G League this season – appearing in 27 games for the Austin Spurs and scoring 21.5 points per game on a 47.1 FG percent / 39.6 3PT percent / 83.8 FT percent split.

As a member of the Grand Rapids Drive, Hilliard was just as electric – scoring 23.6 points per game on a 45.9 FG percent / 40.6 3PT percent / 76.5 FT percent split.

The Detroit Pistons have a bit of a history with giving up on young players too soon and trading them for spare change.

Khris Middleton has emerged as one of the best “3 and D” players in the NBA as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. He was shipped to Milwaukee along with Slava Kravstov and Brandon Knight in exchange for Brandon Jennings in 2013.

Spencer Dinwiddie was traded to the Chicago Bulls for Cameron Bairstow, who was subsequently cut. He is now a Most Improved Player candidate after filling in for the injured Jeremy Lin and D’Angelo Russell in Brooklyn as a member of the Nets.

Darrun Hilliard could be the next great former Detroit Piston.

EDITORS NOTE: Lorenzo Brown – ANOTHER former Detroit Piston – has been named to the Eastern Conference All-NBA G League team.
