Lets get it started!

Ish Smith Must Be Benched

When Reggie Jackson went down, all Piston fans hearts stopped. What was looking like a promising season, immediately came to a halt at the downfall of their point guard.

However, the trade deadline was far away, giving the Pistons and Stan Van Gundy plenty of time to find a replacement for Jackson.

Van Gundy decided he already had the replacement on the team.

Instead of making a trade for a point guard before the trade deadline, Van Gundy traded for superstar Blake Griffin.

Leaving the Pistons with a 6’0″, non-shooting point guard to fill in for Jackson.

Ish Smith.

The year beforehand, Smith was also the replacement for Jackson.

The Pistons also fell far short of expectations last year, ending up back in the Draft Lottery.

But, with a much bigger cushion given to Smith this year (the Pistons were 19-14 when Jackson went down), maybe Smith could hold things together just enough for Jackson to return and right the ship.

That turned out not be true.

The Pistons currently sit at 28-29 during the All Star weekend, and very likely would’ve been much worse, if not for a honeymoon five game winning streak after trading for Griffin.

The problems at point guard are still there, as the offense with Smith, Griffin, and Andre Drummond offers little to no spacing.

You can blame the defense for the last two losses to the New Orleans Pelicans, and the Atlanta Hawks. However, the offense made everything crumble in those games, as it just looks mediocre when the trio mentioned are on the court.

Smith must be benched, and sent back to his rightful spot as the backup point guard.

But, who will start then?
