The Detroit Pistons are slumping in a way we haven’t seen from them this season, losers of back-to-back-to-back blowout loses. The good news is that Reggie Jackson may not be far away from a return.

The Detroit Pistons currently stink worse than rotten eggs frying in the sun.

That’s pretty stinky.

However, the fans, and the team, may have something potentially exciting waiting just around the corner. That excitement comes in the form of Reggie Jackson, who suffered a grade-3 ankle injury and has been out since the end of December.

Via Rod Beard, Detroit News:

"“He is progressing. We’re hopeful that those practices before the West Coast trip that we’ll get him back,” Van Gundy said before Monday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors. “Anything before that would be an unexpected bonus.”"

Jackson’s return is exciting, but is it enough to stop the stink coming from the Pistons?

That I am not sure.

We’ve seen how challenging it has been for the Pistons to implement that talent of Blake Griffin, and Jackson’s presence might throw another wrench in the Pistons’ chemistry.

On the other hand, Jackson couldn’t ask for a better situation to come back to. Really, hear me out on this.

When Jackson came back from injury last year, the Pistons had just figured out how to win. His return messed with the Pistons chemistry, and the team never truly regained form. In fairness, Jackson was never really healthy either.

This season, it is different. Jackson can’t make the Pistons’ situation much worse, and if he enters the rotation playing at the level he was at prior to injury, or even if the Pistons are just marginally better, Jackson will be given some credit that has been hard to come by.

If the team continues to stink, there will be a multitude of excuses to blame the stink on.

It remains to be seen when Jackson will return, and what impact he will have. His return, however, will be exciting regardless.
